Introducing new varieties of potato seeds in Faryab

As potato is a high-yielding food crop that thrives at the colder higher areas of Afghanistan, this 6-month project has the objective to improve food-security and households’ income in Kohistan through the introduction of quality potato seeds and improved methods of growing potatoes. 15 to 20 farmers will benefit directly from agricultural trainings and high quality potato seeds deliveries as well as fertilizers, and adequate tools. All farmers in Kohistan district, and their households, will also benefit from exposure to improved techniques, through the organization of field days at each of the demonstration plots. On the longer term, through the anticipated decrease in potato prices in Kohistan markets, the entire population of the district will profit from this action.
