Integrated and sustainable sanitation of vulnerable households and one school group in three underprivileged neighbourhoods in the Abidjan district

ACTED’s actions in the district of Abidjan aim to reduce mortality caused by waterborne diseases and to preserve the environment for 150,000 people for 40 months. ACTED will grant access to EcoSan latrines, namely through the construction of 308 latrines and 308 handwashing facilities as well as by developing self-financed structures. ACTED teams will raise populations’ awareness to the advantages of EcoSan, train and follow beneficiaries to good latrine use and practices. Waste waters will be collected and treated: ACTED teams will build a sewage network for 150 common areas, strengthen existing structures responsible for neighbourhood sanitation, and train households. Waste collection and management will also be improved. Finally, ACTED will set up hygiene awareness campaigns.
