Improving sustainable water access, hygiene and sanitation in favor of populations in Eastern Chad

Recognizing the crucial aspect of water in development, this 6-month project tackles 3 objectives which come within the Millennium Goals. The co-funding of the rehabilitation of a dam and the construction or the rehabilitation of 7 wells will enable the sustainable access to water of the 9,500 beneficiaries of the project. A hygiene and sanitation promotion campaign will be set up to improve sanitary practices among targeted populations. Finally, community management of water resources will reduce tensions among host communities, displaced people and nomads thanks to the creation of two committees managing respectively the dam and the wells.
