Improving food security by establishing off-season agriculture in the rural communities of Mrauk-U Kyauktaw in Rakhine State

The Comité Interministériel de l’Agriculture et de l’Alimentation (CIAA) 2016 project, funded by the French Embassy in Myanmar, is a one year long project (from September 16th, 2016 to September 15th, 2017) aiming at improving food security through winter crop cultivation in Mrauk-U and Kyauktaw townships, Rakhine State, Myanmar. The Rakhine State, in particular, is one of the least developed states of Burma and is facing numerous development challenges including high population density, high food insecurity leading to malnutrition, a generally poor population, weak infrastructure and a particular vulnerability to natural disasters. Beneficiaries targeted are farmers by the coast.
