Floods in North West Pakistan - over 2 million affected people
Heavy rains in the past week have resulted in triggering flash floods as well as river floods in several parts of Pakistan. But the worst affected areas are in the provinces of southern Punjab, southern KPK and Baluchistan. ACTED is present in the affected areas

Pakistan is hit by heavier than usual monsoon rains since 21 July 2010, killing at least 1100 people and leaving hundreds of thousands of people affected in the worst hit districts.
34,000 households affected in the District of Swat
Based on the results of a first assessment carried out by ACTED in the field, an estimated 34,000 households have been affected in the District of Swat: they have lost all their assets and had to move temporarily or pemanently.
Most of the land routes linking to the flood affected regions have been disrupted, leaving thousands of local residents marooned.
Immediate relief is needed for thousands of people
The immediate relief required based on the needs of the people is as follows: Drinking Water facility, Food, Kitchen Utensils, Transitional Shelter, Vaccination for human, Vaccination for livestock, Immediate rehabilitation of access road, De-watering of stagnant water from the settlements.

ACTED is already active in North West Pakistan with operational set up in Swat, Dir and Peshawar. Our staff is on location to estimate the damages and plans disaster mitigation efforts.
