First relief kits arrive in Port au Prince

The first shelter relief kits have arrived in Port-au-Prince and hundreds more are due to arrive later today, Tuesday 19 January 2010.

In cooperation with ShelterBox UK, ACTED is sending 2,200 shelter and first aid kits by plane in order to respond to the essential needs of more than 22,000 people. This freight is the first stage of ACTED’s wider intervention to support the disaster-affected people of Haiti.

As an illustration, your donation will help us fund:

• A fully equipped box

• A tent, thermal blankets and insulated ground sheets

• A multi-fuel stove as well as utensils, bowls, mugs and water storage containers

• Water and food storage containers and a water purification system

• Tools, bags and ropes

• An axe, saw, trenching shovel

• Mosquito nets

• A children’s pack containing drawing books, crayons and pens
