GENDRASA [ACTED News] - Due to escalating conflict in Blue Nile State, Sudan, a massive influx of refugees crossed the border into Maban county, with over 35,000 settling in Jamam camp. Over the course of the last few months, the state of the refugee camp located in Jamam has deteriorated. The site location is severely flood-prone and water resources in the area are unstable. As camp manager, ACTED has been working in collaboration with the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) to relocate the Jamam population, and is currently transporting the most at-risk individuals of this population to a newly established site named Gendrasa. Early August, ACTED stepped in to support the World Food Program in the distribution of sorghum, pulses, oil and salt to over 4,800 individuals who have already been relocated to the Gendrasa site to ensure that they were able to rapidly have access to food in their new location.
