Emergency shelter and livelihood support for earthquake-affected populations

People in Need NGO, ACTED’s partner in Alliance 2015 relies on ACTED to implement projects in Haiti. With the financial support of PIN, ACTED will implement a 6-month project in the most affected areas of Port-au-Prince. 1,400 households (7,000 individuals) will benefit from the provision of emergency shelters and NFI kits. The project will provide Cash For Work opportunities for 393 beneficiaries allowing quick cash injection in the local economy. Activities will include: rubble clearing, water and sanitation construction, waste clearance or camp cleaning. To ensure the inclusion of most vulnerable women in the programming strategies, female beneficiaries will be trained in and employed for community-service activities, such as screening for malnutrition and monitoring of diseases outbreaks.
