Emergency response to sudden flooding in Pakistan’s Sindh province since August 2011
Since August, considerable floods have severely hit Sindh province in Pakistan, and now constitute a major humanitarian crisis. An estimated 5.4 million people in 23 districts are concerned. ACTED is developing a multisector emergency response for four months, targeting 410 families (approximately 2,870 indivisuals), in order to address shelter needs with the distribution of shelter kits for each family, water, sanitation and hygiene needs with as many hygiene kits comprising soap and water purification tablets, food and other basic needs. In a second stage of the intervention, ACTED will also assist the displaced in recovering their livelihoods, crops and livestock, as a way of ensuring their food security.
