Emergency Response to strengthen coping strategies of vulnerable communities in Northern Kenya

The drought that is currently ongoing in much of Eastern Africa has severely affected Northern Kenya, an area that is highly dependent on agriculture and more specifically animal husbandry. This five-month project targets 22,444 household beneficiaries suffering from the drought in Northern Kenya and ACTED will be operating in two counties, Mandera and Samburu targeting 2760 households across both counties (1950 Mandera, 810 Samburu). It aims at providing beneficiaries with emergency support through an Unconditional Cash Transfer (UCT) scheme and enhance their resilience by integrating established Early Warning Systems (EWS) into their community structures.
