Emergency relief in favour of the Haitian earthquake-affected populations
With the aim of responding to the humanitarian needs in Haiti and to contribute to the recovery of vulnerable communities, this 12 months project, which will benefit 12,000 persons, will target two areas affected by the recent disaster: the cities of Port-au-Prince and Jacmel. 300 families will receive an emergency shelter and 2,000 households (16,000 persons) non-food item or hygiene kits. In terms of water facilities and sanitation, 20 water bladders allowing 12,000 persons to access daily to water will be installed. 100 emergency latrines will also be built. A “cash for work” program will be implemented allowing 36,805 euros to be injected into the local economy. The work activities consist in rubble cleaning, rehabilitation activities, sanitary facility constructions or waste collection.
