Emergency relief for displaced populations in Nasser, Wanding and Akobo

Since December 2011, conflict in northern Jonglei State has caused the displacement of populations. This 4-month project aims to provide emergency relief to conflict-affected populations in the towns of Nasser, Wanding and Akobo as well as their surroundings: basic non-food items will be distributed to 5,000 households. In order to cover water, sanitation and hygiene needs of the 3,000 internally displaced people in Nasser and the more than 30,000 in Akobo County, while contributing to the area’s economic recovery, ACTED will rehabilitate 10 boreholes, and build 50 latrines and 20 shower blocks through cash for work activities. 100 vulnerable women will take part in hygiene promotion sessions, and a rapid assessment of needs in the area will be conducted, and findings will be disseminated to the humanitarian community.
