Emergency nutrition and food security response in West Polot, Samburu and Mandera Counties

The overall objective of the action is to contribute to reduction of morbidity and mortality related to malnutrition and inadequacy of quality hygiene practices through emergency nutrition, food security and WASH response activities in West Pokot, Samburu and Mandera counties in Kenya. ACTED will be in charge of the WASH part of this project, to be implemented in Samburu and Mandera. To improve access to water and hygiene habits in the area, ACTED will support the rehabilitation of boreholes and strengthen the capacity of rapid response teams. Hygiene promotion sessions will be conducted to prevent cholera and other water borne diseases while hygiene kits will be distributed to households and girls in schools.
