Emergency distribution of maize seeds in Leogane

The goal of this project was to provide maize seeds for spring season to the farmers of Habitation de la Colline Deslandes, a non-irrigated area of Leogane’s plain affected by the seism. A meeting with the main members of the community was set to communicate on ACTED’s method and information for the beneficiaries. A ticket distribution allowed to register the beneficiaries and to give them instructions (bring their id card and a container…) and the next day the beneficiaries received 5kg of seeds each. 451 households have benefited from the distribution and a follow-up have been made in collaboration with the local farmers’ organizations and the main members of the community. 84 individuals who had not benefited from the first distribution received 4kg of seeds. This project has benefited to 535 households.
