Ebola outbreak in Western Uganda
KAMPALA [ACTED News] – An outbreak of Ebola, which has already killed 14 people, was reported in the Western Kibale district of Uganda. Nine of the deaths have occurred in a single household. The World Health Organization, Center for Disease Control and Prevention and the Ugandan Ministry of Health (MoH) teams were dispatched to the area to assess the situation and support the response operations. An isolation centre was set up in Kibale hospital for suspected, probable and confirmed cases. The MoH has advised the public to take measures to avert the spread of the disease and to report any suspected patients to the nearest health unit.
