Drought Emergency Response in Arid Areas in Kenya 2012

Kenya’s drought has deepened over the last 6 months, making 2011 the driest period in the Eastern Horn of Africa for 50 years. To mitigate the impact of droughts on vulnerable people, and to enhance immediate food security in the arid lands, ACTED will set up a 6-month project. The project will include cash for work activities, improving water access (borehole rehabilitation, fuel subsidies…), animal and livestock protection, and peace and security activities, for a total of 1,099,074 direct beneficiaries.
