Disaster Risk Reduction through transboundary Integrated Natural Resources Management in the Ak-Suu and Khoja-Bakirgan watersheds

This 18-month project builds on the achievements of previous DIPECHO's interventions in the Aksu and Khoja Bakirgan watersheds of the Syr Darya river basin in Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. It aims to further institutionalise the management of transboundary watersheds through Natural Resource Management (NRM) and Climate Change Adaptation (CCA). Using a Community-based approach, the project will target 15 Communities in Tajikistan and 15 Communities in Kyrgyzstan (84 836 beneficiaries for 18 107 households) at highest risk of disasters. The Community level intervention will be complemented with activities promoting regional cooperation to develop a national and regional Disaster Reduction Management (DRM) framework.
