Devastation in Eastern Samar caused by Tropical Storm Urduja (Kai-Tak)

ACTED relief assistance in Eastern Samar

On December 16th, tropical storm Urduja hit the Eastern Samar province causing damages, major floods and some 50 casualties.

ACTED deployed an emergency team to conduct several assessments and identify humanitarian needs 48 hours after the the storm. Given the impact, ACTED is leading an intervention in Salcedo and Mercedes municipalities with the support of UNICEF and Alstom Foundation in order to support the local response.

ACTED intervention focused primarily on rehabilitating access of the affected populations to water and sanitation by distributing jerrycans, hygiene kits, water purification kits and Aquatabs, and by reparing water facilities, including in scools, across these two municipalities.
