Cash for Work schemes on food distributions in Port-au-Prince

As ACTED manages two massive food distribution locations in Port-au-Prince, the NGO pays daily around fifty Haitians to help our teams with the distributions. Indeed, in parallel to its food distribution activities, ACTED is undertaking Cash-for-Work schemes; the latter are pursued throughout ACTED’s interventions and favour economic recovery by providing an income to those who collaborate with ACTED. In Haiti, the people help to unload and distribute the bags of rice to the population for around 4 dollars a day. According to Bjoern Schranz, in charge of the Sylvio Cator Stadium distribution site, these schemes also allow to spot the new ACTED recruits; he already envisages to recruit two of the people he met during the distributions.
