Cambodia: Outreach education improving hygiene practices in rural villages

PHNOM PENH [ACTED News] – ACTED has continued its flood-recovery activities in rural Kandal province, Cambodia, shifting focus from well chlorination to outreach education aimed at improving household hygiene practices. Since the start of June, ACTED’s staff have reached 3,470 households through group outreach education sessions. These sessions have covered two topics – hand washing with soap and the safe treatment and storage of household water. In conjunction with these group education sessions, water purification tablets have been distributed to a total of 3,842 households, allowing families to put the lessons learned in these sessions into practice and improve their access to safe drinking water.
