ACTED Philippines celebrates World Water Day 2017!

On March 22nd, our teams joined the entire humanitarian community to celebrate World Water Day. As this year’s theme focuses on waste water, ACTED organized an orientation to vulnerable people of Guiuan, Eastern Samar, on wastewater issues, and the related sanitation and hygiene matters.

Participants were also informed about toilet facility construction, septic tank and how the drainage system works at the relocation site. They were taught how to maintain the sanitation of the facility together with the house that will be built for them.

Anna, 40 years old from Barangay (village) Hollywood, Guiuan, Eastern Samar took part this year’s World Water Day celebration.

As one of ACTED’s beneficiary in shelter and livelihood scheme, Anna participates in all activities of which the organization has managed. Maribel’s husband, another beneficiary, who has a walking disability due to an accident in his fishing boat that happened three years ago, asks Maribel to remain resilient at all times. Her family is very excited to transfer to the new relocation site and was happy to visit her future house after attending the World Water Day activity.
