ACTED Philippines assess needs of people displacd by the Marawi crisis

Violent clashes in Marawi city, Mindanao, since May 23rd have forced an estimated 90% of its inhabitants to evacuate. This “mass exodus” of people has caused a humanitarian crisis in the area, as the siege continues and internally displaced people find themselves without basic necessities.

ACTED directly mobilised its team to assess the situation, finding evacuation centres exceeding capacity in both number of people and resources available. Together with partners, ACTED is working hard to secure and mobilise life-saving assistance to displaced people in the most vulnerable areas. As there is no end in sight to the violence, the situation is being more acute and dangerous.
