ACTED DRC organises a march against HIV/AIDS

The Libenge team organized an awareness campaign on the risks of contamination and spread of HIV/AIDS as part of a project to improve food security, access to water, sanitation and hygiene for refugees and vulnerable host populations in the North and South Ubangi, with the financial support of BPRM, aiming at raising awareness on the disease and how to avoid it.

This awareness campaign was done through a march led by the Kimbanguistic fanfare in Mawuya, capital of the South-Libenge sector. About 1,900 parents and children responded to ACTED’s call and walked together to show their support to the initiative. Subsequently, ACTED awareness raising team and the DCMP theater group presented a participatory play in the Gbandi primary school community to raise awareness on the risks of HIV/AIDS. Finally, the march ended with a distribution of male condoms to 1,400 men (adults, young men and elderly).
