12,000 people receive daily clean water in Tapis Rouge
In the neighborhood of Tapis Rouge, located on the flanks of the hills of Port-au-Prince, over 12,000 people are provided daily with water. Each inhabitant receives daily 10 liters of water. Overall 25,000 liters of water are needed every day to fill up the 5 bladders which have been set up by ACTED staffs on January 22nd. Every single day, 6 water trucks come up the way and arrive on time, always awaited by a crowd. The communities of this neighborhood all come from the lower parts of the capital city and have seen their houses collapse during the earthquake. They also receive water used for washing purposes, to do the laundry and for cooking.
