CAR: Poverty reduction in the Vakaga
ACTED CAR - Poverty reduction in the Vakaga thanks to the opening up of the rural populations
The préfecture of Vakaga is located at the extreme North-East of the country, bordering Sudan and Chad remains isolated from the rest of the country because of damaged roads. The 8 month project implemented by ACTED aims at rehabilitating the road between Birao and Boromata for the 7189 inhabitants living in 20 villages located on this track but also for the estimated 15 000 people living in the area. 11 crossing points will be built on the 10 most important wadis between Birao and Boromata and 272 workers (and their families for a total of 1 792 people) will benefit from a small complementary. GPS data collected along the road will be used for thematic mapping of the map which will be shared with local authorities.
